I've been driving my M1031 around locally since Dec 2019. It starts fine and high idles until it gets warm.
I noticed recently that my M1031 idles really low when its warm. If I the glow plugs aren't required to start (stock system) when the truck is warm, it really idles like it wants to...
Yes, please. I think I understand what you are saying but I'm not quite sure. So I think you can fill from either side with your system to fill both tanks, right?
I was having issues with my truck going past full and staying there for most of the tank. I found that the engine would cut out as the gauge was one tick away from empty. I replaced the sending unit (after trying to clean the connections) and the gauge works as I would expect it to.
Honestly both top and bottom. I think if I'd done it a few times I could do it from the top. I'm not sure I can count my 3 tries as more than one...
If I wasn't trying to rush, it was pretty easy. I just ran into not getting the rod out and then forgetting the gasket. It's not given me any...
Rick, thanks for the advice. I'm unsure of resealing the base. I might look for some of the spin on options as it appears this design is not supported anymore.
I just changed out my fuel tank sending unit. The stock clamp isn't as tight as it used to be. I came out to fuel coming from the top of the tank. I now believe I need a better clamp and the fuel filter is draining back to the tank.
My conclusion is the stock filter base needs some TLC...
I took advantage of truck being a cab and chassis and replaced the fuel tank sending unit.
My gauge was not very reliable. It would read near full and then about 1/3 tank. Even when the truck would be near empty the gauge would read not read empty.
The tank was pretty clean on the inside...
I removed the screw and I didn't see any place for an o-ring. The petcock looked in pretty good shape so I cleaned it off put it back on. It appears to still be draining but I'm not sure it's as bad as before. I'm still not happy with the leak in the driveway but it's not as bad.
If you wanted to run 37's would you still do the 4" and zero rates? What's rubbing? The frame or front fenders? Would a 5" spring in the front work the same or do you need to relocate the axle?
