well i had to use
- upper and lower intake
- passenger exhaust manifold
-6.5 injectors (there shorter, and will clear the manifold better)
- turbo
- homemade wastegate controller
-and i turned up the injection pump 1/4 turn + a "tad" more
i then had a exhaust shop build me a crossover pipe...
all fourms are different... and you have to step back and see what type your in before you plow ahead..
but to answer your question, you can not fit 53's without MAJOR mods, and lots of fab.. the axles would have to be spread apart to keep the tires from hitting..
this OP, was me 5 years ago... danger ranger put it pretty nicely.. you would be amazed at what they can do stock, or with 395/85-R20's (46" tires) just READ READ READ! there is tons and tons of info here, i have learned soooooo much from here, and not just about MV's.. but people, and not...
as i said, anything over 1 turbo is out of my knowage area.. lol (other then detroits, then i know alittle, but not much) everything i know is from months, and months of reading, and research... then by experameanting.. i turboed my M1009 and ran 10psi on a stock engine.. then i got my 1995 Z71...
a lot of detroits use turbo over superchargers.. it needs the boost from the supercharger at idle and low RPM's just to run, then the turbo kicks in about mid-range when the supercharger "falls off"
when you start talking "twins" and "supercharging" in the same sentence, you going beyond my experance.. lol i do know from when i built my 6.5 that you dont have much option when it comes to injectors.. you have stock NON-turbo, stock turbo, and marine "40hp" injectors.. if you use a twin...
you can get the optimizer block, i just cant remember where.. but if it were me, i would use the P400 block (used in the new up-armored HMMWV's) they will work in the CUCV's with a small lift to clear the oil pan.. with that block i would add
- .010 thicker head gaskets
- HX35 turbo, wastegated...
i think the reason they looked that way, was the rear rims were "dish out" and tracked wider then the fronts.. but there was a good 3" between the tires..
hey Bill, the 395/85 R20 tires is what i had on my deuce that i sold a couple of years ago.. they would fit your A3 and look factory because your truck is already set up for singles.. -Josh Knecht
the problem with this is height, i have a stock M932A1 tractor, and the 5th wheel plate is 5 FEET off the ground!!:???: (most civy tracters are only 37" off the ground) because of this, i can not hook to most civy van trailers because i would be over height (max is 13.6) if you add a bed under...
i made my wastegate control for my 95 chevy 6.5, i used a battery hold down rod, a spring, and a wing nut.. i took the factery vacuum wastegate, and removed the top of it (the part that the vacuum line hooks into) and removed all the "guts" and used the remaining part as a bracket.. i then ran...
right there with ya man... its just a toy to me, so if i break it, i can let it sit till i can afford to fix it.... but oh golly 5-ton parts are more expinsive!!! i guess you "pay to play"
i have those thoughts all the time, then the very next thought is- oh, what the HE!!.. lol and thats how i buried my M932 to the bottom of the doors (no pics, i was just trying to get it out)
