for $5K you can get a mechanically sound vehicle, with very little other issues.
i would recommend getting a load range E tire instead of the swampers, get wrangler MT's or cooper discoverer's
the sm465 would fit up to the truck assuming you can find the correct bellhousing and...
RE: lots...
my radiator that i pulled out during the turbo install was the original as well, also shot beyond repair. I had a new 2core aluminium radiator made up, uses 2x 1" cores and should be a little of a cooling capacity upgrade. I am going the route of dual electric fans instead of a...
these parts are for sale locally and i stumbled across them, I am coming down to the Ga rally and could bring them down if you paid for them. Just thought someone may need some of these parts.

first, do you hear a click when you turn the ignition on, if you dont, the glow plug relay on the firewall is acting up.
if you hear the relay when you start it cold, but not after its been running, the there is a temp switch that has gone bad.
my response would be, if you need 40kw of power when the grid goes down then ~$4 an hour for your power needs isnt expensive at all. If you dont need that kind of capacity, get a smaller genset thats more effecient on fuel.
the biggest thing seems to be the choking that can take place in the injectors when you shut down on VO, and the fact that it can solidify in the lines. thats why most systems have a small diesel tank and start/stop on regular diesel to avoid VO being left in the lines at shutdown.
actually the K case (its a thicker bellhousing section) that most of the cucv's got is the toughest case for the th400, and I havent heard of many people cracking them without doing something stupid (like rubber engine mounts and a poly trans mount). the tcase on the other hand is known for...
but the ambulance used the 24v big alternator and the dualvac? regulator to charge the front battery, thats not a system that you want to use. i would recommend if AC is that important to you that you simply convert to 12v and put the compressor in place of the passenger alternator.
you can also convert to the civilian distributor. I've seen some people talking of replacing the points setup with a modern setup under the sealed cap.
RE: Re: Speed/Gearing/Tire size?!?!
i paid 270 per tire, and that mileage estimate was PRE-turbo. will report on mileage post install when i make the trip to GA later this month.
I noticed a huge difference, considering running 38" tires is like putting 3.73 gears in the differentials. I can do 70mph all day long and still get ~20mpg driving at 65.
