well kinda.... sounds like the teeth on the fly wheel might be going bad (bad spots) or on the starter drive. Remove the starter and take a look at the starter drive teeth and the teeth on the fly wheel.
I have never used 5-40 other in my dmax in the winter. That oil is made for turbo diesels. Im my CUCV's I would run 15-40 in the winter and 30W in the summer. You can run a 10W-30 in the winter if you wish but if you do check the oil offten.
ok my 2 cents here kids. I have been here ALONG time and have seen a lot and even taken some time off from SS a couple times. Here is a Idea..... Mods if you see a post that is too much for SS's liking just can it. You guys seam to do it to me just fine when i push it and I am ok with that...

As far as replacement I have no idea. I have used O rings before. But most of the time I just leave it out and make sure to grease it more.
the CUCV radiator is a very large radiator for light trucks. Just get it fixed or replace it with another one it will do just fine for the 6.5. If the factory engine took a dump and the motor pool had a N/A 6.5 around all they would have to do is swap the oil pan and its a drop in.
if the parts guys messed it up.. guess what.. they have to pay for it to get fixed. I use to run a Checker Auto parts and we had to replace a windshield because a wiper blade that one of my guys installed came off and scratched the glass.
and I would bet just the fuseable link was blown out. no...
