    Both Spicer and Federal Mogul(manufacturers of u-joints) recommend lithium grease(not moly). You may be over thinking this simple failure.

    I was not specific because I meant whatever the "20" level manual is for that series of truck's TM. In this case it does end with -24.

    It may have been installed incorrectly(not centered or one ear bent slightly). Do it your self and be sure there is no bind before installing. You can fine tune the tension, with a hammer and a correctly placed blow.
