Your batteries should not freeze. They freeze when they are no good.
You should not bring batteries in to a home to charge. They give off deadly and explosive gasses.
Have you ever tested your antifreeze?
If your glowplugs have been cycled once, they are not new.
It takes 2-5 minutes to measure them individually with a meter.
That is the only possible way you can say(know) they are good.
It sounds like your starter is too slow to start it, from your description.
