All the info you need to perform the tasks you are doing, is documented in those books. They can be read by an idiot that has no experience at all, and allow that idiot to perform a repair procedure...
They are not interchangeable.
The inner bearing is a 3994, the outer bearing is a 392.
You may have to tap it into position(on the inner race with a brass punch or a sleeve that will use the full inner race surface). It should be a snug fit. Get it cocked, and it will bind.

It would be a good idea. Fused as close to the source is best. What size wire have you used?
Obviously, the fuse needs to be the week link, not the switch, wire or connections.
How many extra 12 volt connections does one need? There is more than one 12v tap empty on the stock fuse block.
