There are much better generators available, if you only want to run a single light bulb.

You should consider downloading and reading the Technical manuals, for proper operation of the generator.
Did you replace the under-dash starter relay with an original style relay?
I do not recommend that. Starter rum-on is a common issue with CUCVs.
I have posted a thread on how to replace that relay with a different relay that will eliminate/not allow starter run-on.
Use an IR gun and tell us where you point it. Then take temp readings once a minute, for 5 minutes.
Then, someone can do the same with another truck, and you can compare.
The horn solenoid should have power anytime. The horn button provides a ground for the solenoid, to activate it.

I did not mean, to create an air leak that will lower the air pressue in the tanks.
I meant, the driver side air line(glad hand). If it is left open a bit, the airpack will not build up from internal leakage(and self apply).

Crack your glad-hand valve open a bit(and leave it open a bit), that will keep the air from building and forcing the brakes on.
This is assuming your airpack is the issue.
