The tires aren't rated for higher speeds, due to centrifugal forces. You run the risk of catastrophic failure at sustained higher speeds.
If the goal is simply to increase speed, changing gearing accomplishes that.
The problem is that the truck as a whole is not designed for higher speeds...
They aren't under built. They're generally way overbuilt.
The shear pins mentioned above are a safety feature to keep it from breaking itself.

This contradicts my understanding. 20 ton = 40,000lbs.... the winch on my 5ton is only 20,000 lbs rating. My understanding is the M35A2 winch was 10,000lbs....
Thing is, the pto winch on the deuces is a 10k winch. Adding the pto winch is a pita.... but you could add an 18k electric winch for about $1k all in....

Either makes a fine toy.... Artisan's M916 is very nice. I even like the strange shifting sounds it makes....
