    Picked up an MKT-85 today

Today I picked up the MKT-85 I recently won on GL and for the first time I'm actually asking myself the question outsiders always seem to ask about our military toys "What are you going to do with that?". The 120 mile recovery went fine. It was a very windy day with 30 mph gusts but I just...

    M916A1 for Fire Department

I thought I would share a few pictures of the M916A1 that we are building into a tanker for our volunteer fire department. This is one big truck that makes our M35A3 look small. We will be setting it up to carry 2000 gallons of water. We will use two 4 foot diameter 1000 gallon poly tanks to...

4th Annual Deuce Christmas Tree Recovery

For the 4th year in a row, my daughter and I took the deuce to bring home the family Christmas tree. This was our first after dark recovery and the first chance I have had to try out the new LED headlights (they work great). Kids grow up too fast so I really cherish these wonderful times and...

Steering Wheel and Seat Covers for Christmas :-)

My wonderful wife gave me a new deuce steering wheel (18" A3 style) and seat covers for Christmas. :jumpin: Now I'm anxious to install them. I need to come up with a steering wheel remover. I bid on one but lost so I need to find one or use one of the alternative methods I've seen discussed...

    3rd Annual Christmas Tree Recovery

For the third year in a row my daughter and I took the deuce to get a Christmas tree. What a fun tradition! http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?61275-Christmas-Tree-Recovery&p=720225&viewfull=1#post720225...

    Exhaust j-pipe installation problem

I just attempted to install a new j-pipe and ran into a problem. The new pipe is one of the newer ones that has welded sections instead of one continuous pipe. Well, after having issues getting the pipe in place I compared it to the original and they are a little different. The end that goes...

    mep-002a / m116a2 cover

I have not been able to find an original cover for my mep-002a/m116a2 and the tarp I had on it already deteriorated so I came up with an other option. I used polycarbonate corrugated roofing panels to provide some protection. It isn't a perfect solution and a hard blowing rain would still be...

    AIRMASTER Brake Booster

I just saw this air over hydraulic brake system on the Gearz TV show and wondered how feasable this would be for converting a deuce to a dual circuit braking system. I knew about the hydroboost options but I had never seen a system like this before. Only the air valve mounts to the...

    M925 Winch Control Cable

We recently obtained an M925 w/w for our fire department. The control cable for the hydraulic winch is seized up. This is the "push/pull" type cable that goes from the in-cab control lever to the hydraulic control valve. I just removed the cable and now I can't seem to find a source for a...

    Special Deuce Photo for Christmas

My daughter used her photoshop skills to create the greatest picture for me for Christmas. The driver is my wonderful Golden Retriever (Rosie) and the passenger is our Labradoodle (Molly). Rosie has gone blind from her diabetes so it is funny that she is the driver. What a great gift!

    Hardcore Pawn bobbed 5 ton

Just saw a bobbed 5 ton on the Hardcore Pawn TV show. The guy wanted $19,000 for it. The best part? I was in the other room and my wife calls me and says "quick, I think there is a deuce on the show". It wasn't a deuce but still pretty cool to see it was something close and notify me.

    Teenagers and troop seats

I took a group of my daughter's friends for a nighttime ride in the deuce. This was one of the activities for a western themed teen party for our home school group that we hosted at our place. They played games, ate stew and cornbread while sitting around a fire, and then went for a non-hay...

    M925 for Fire Department

I finally have a reason to post in the 5 ton forum. We just got a 1983 M925 W/W for our volunteer fire department. This beast makes a deuce look small. We got it from Forestry and it came with nearly new G177 tires and runs good. Now we just need to find time to get it setup to...

Ada Oklahoma Car Show September 2011

Does anyone in the Oklahoma area want to join me at the Blue Moon Cafe Car Show in Ada, Oklahoma on Saturday September 17th, 2011? I am going to enter my Deuce and M105A2 trailer. It should be fun. Here is a link to their Facebook page with more info: Blue Moon Cafe Car Show -...

    Horn button repair (new style)

I came up with a cheap way to fix the horn button in my deuce. The groove in the rubber adapter that the retaining ring fits in had worn to the point that the ring would not hold the button in. Someday when I get a new 5 ton size steering wheel I will get a new horn button kit but for now this...

MEP-002A Recovery - The Collection Grows

How does this green stuff keep showing up in my yard? I went and picked up my M116A2/MEP-002A today. I can actually blame this one on my wife. I was bidding on this generator and it went just past the limit I had set for myself. I called my wife to tell her I was out bid. She asked me what...

M151's at small Oklahoma Car Show

I stumbled across a very small car show yesterday in my town and look what was there. A gentleman who is a veteran had a very nice display set up. I wish I had known about the show because I would have brought my deuce. Hopefully he willl be back for a bigger car show here in September and I...

    Christmas Tree Recovery

I just added one more response for the question that every Deuce owner must answer on a regular basis "What are you going to do with that?". Today we used the Deuce for a Christmas Tree "recovery". My daughter always helps me pick out the tree so she was even willing to ride in the Deuce for...

    Deuce Ownership Anniversary Today

Today is my 1st anniversary of being a deuce owner  I love that I was able to pickup my deuce on Veterans Day last year. I must thank SS member Warthog for selling me this truck and for all the help he has given me and many others in this hobby. I know I was warned about this...
