What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I just realized I did't properly reply to your answer earlier. Sounds like I put an advertisement in the wrong section. After this, I'll go back and delete the original. PS brackets are definitely getting scarce- especially if they're in one piece and functional. After fixing three of my own...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I did an improvement on my belated (and beloved) M1008: I replaced the crank-PS-driver alt belt with a short PS-driver alt belt. It eliminated the PS belt squeal, especially in wet weather. I don't remember the length, but it was pretty short. It also cuts one direction (and half) of force to...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Had to pull the power steering pump bracket out today- while tracking down a really bad rattle (found it....), discovered the bracket was broken in two places. Power steering pump was just about ready to fall out. Also found a really bad booger weld where some nut thought he knew how to weld...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Finally had a little "spare time", figured I should check the glow plugs. Wee Beastie has been a bit hard to get started in the early AM lately. Yep, figures... the three hardest to get to (4, 6, and 8 ) were all bad. The previous owner must have thought they were to difficult to deal with. And...

    Pe-75-w

hokay guys- I inherited a Leland Alternator PE-75-W... good for 2.5 kilowatts AC at 60Hz - it belonged to my father and traveled with us thru at least three stations. We sold the Briggs engine, so all we have left is the generator on the steel skid. LSS, a fella has mentioned he wants it, and I...

    vent window repair

Being southern raised, it was a major problem for me when I opened my vent window for the first time, and had to grab it before it fell out. Usual malady: broken pin. So here's the steps I went thru, assisted by plenty of beer: The broken pin, well soaked with Kroil- and the hole in the bottom...

    M1009 cucv with bad fuel

When my M1008 had air in the water separator, I put a small vinyl hose on the upper nipple and ran it to a jar with a bit of diesel in it- just like I was going to bleed the brakes. Since this truck had an electric inline pump in addition to the mechanical one (why? IDA know), all I had to do...

    SC - Wigington Salvage

I think he's planning on taking it all with him when he makes the final retirement- the buildings are packed to the gills, and there's trailers and stuff on just about every acre.

    SC - Wigington Salvage

Just paid a visit to Mr. Wigington today. A really great guy. He's got to be in his 90's.... and almost deaf. His hearing aid is doing a heroic job. His wife helps interpret. I got the grand tour to look everything over.. made me wish for more disposable income. About six m101's, seven m105's...

The only one I know of around there is Robert Love..... but I'd rather drive a Dodge than do business with him.

    M1009 won't start

If the starter turns the motor.....Id say you might have air in your water seperator- its gotten me before- I run a small tube from the top nipple into a jar wit a little diesel in it- just like bleeding brakes- then start cranking til no more air comes thru- otherwise, check your glowplug...

Thats what a lot of pro secession people are calling the collection of SC, NC and GA. Yep, we're dreaming... but it's a happy dream.
