Not sure, but I think that is 24V. If you use the fuse block by the drivers side kick panel, everything there is 12V.

In the airport's 1031, I found a short shovel, 3 piece grounding rod, set of kleencerts with installation tools, welding rods, brazing rods, two slave cable ends less backs, water jerry can, many wooden steaks, assorted nuts, bolts, screws and cotter pins, and what looks like some type of work...

I would look at the backside of the flywheel/crank with the dust cover off. Sounds like you may have too long of a flywheel bolts installed and they are hitting the block casting.

I had my 92 Wranger done with Speedliner. Works great when you use any good bed liner. It also dampens some of the noise IMO.

I think I would put it on the neg to make sure both batteries are disconnected.

I would take it back. so the shop will know the history, even if it could be fixed with a simple step. That way if it did mess up again they can't deny that something isn't quite right.

I know exactly what you mean! Just started fooling with this stuff for the airport I manage and this site has answered everything I have had questions on. One member even hooked me up with keys for a 1031. Many kudos to the folks on this site.

The WIKI is where I found them the fastest. Just went and peeked again and noticed the 6.2 TM listed, but it isn't a link like the rest. I take it that it isn't in the resource section?

Curious behavior. I wonder if it could be bad fuel? It starts when the gps are hot, but takes a while when they don't cycle. Funky fuel would tend to ignite faster hitting a very hot object IMO.

That bolt looks like it is above the casting for the rod. On the gas burners, it is directly in line with the casting.

Everyone I have fooled with was loose to allow for adjustment. I too am curious as to why the 1009 is not.

:grd: I have done this myself. Had a few buddies think I was crazy until they tried to replace their pins and bushings.....

I got my airport's M1031 from there and the welder/tools were taken out of it. In fact all of the 1031s (6 total) had been robbed of the welders/tools and they were inside the fence. They did leave the generator and air compressor though.

Sorry about your truck. That had to hurt your feelings to bang it up. At least the truck can be either fixed or replaced. Glad you are still alive and able to move on. I agree with others who say that the body should be replaced or use your good parts in another. Don't take the chance of trying...

combatmech, the GM alt is not hard to rebuild. Replace the diode trio and the brushes along with cleaning the commutator with scotch brite and replace the bearings if needed. Oh, leave the pin in the brush assembly until you get it all back assembled. I know this because I pulled it before...
