    Painting Diamond Plate Aluminum

Alodine would be the best to use. Doing sheetmetal work on aircraft it's the only way to go, and is required on aluminum structures. Epoxy may/ may not stick depending on how well you prep. I've always used scotchbrite and wiped with isopropyl or acetone. Paint doesn't stick to bare aluminum...

    Multifuel Filter Numbers?

I've got NAPA Gold #s 3512 and 3511, needing 2 of the 3512s. Had and extra set in the garage, just in case the zombies overrun NAPA and I need some. I've also got a copy of the parts cross reference from the old site in excel format if you'd like that.

Is this starter gear and/or fly wheel toast?

I would definitely change the starter before it trashes the flywheel. The flywheel doesn't look too bad, but the starter gear is on it's way out. I'm guessing the starter is spinning before it's fully engaged? Saw something similar on a HMMWV I drove in Iraq, it got harder and harder to start...

    Solid vs. Zippered

I would go with solid. I just put a zippered boot on the right side in Sept. and noticed the inner edge of the boot came off the axle last month. I ended up pulling everything apart to make it easier, the boot wouldn't fold inside out anymore to put on the inner clamp. After turning the knuckle...

    new deuce grill option

Very cool. Is the handle a 30MM? Looks familiar...

Got a new deuce and now it won't start

This probably won't apply since you said the batt's were new. Had a similar problem with mine last summer. Buzzer came on and I got power everywhere I was supposed to. I checked the batteries individually with a multimeter.... pushed start... one held around 11 VDC, the other dropped to less...

Doesn't DOT 5 normally come in deuces?

Yeah, mines a golden color. I'm suprised it can change color that fast. 5 is what I have. Tried testing some with water and it doesn't mix. Just for the heck of it, put some 3 I had in the garage with water and it mixed up, couldn't tell the two woere in there together. Then 3 and 5...

Doesn't DOT 5 normally come in deuces?

I just read a post from a couple years ago how to test what kind of brake fluid you have and that DOT 5 is not always purple or can change color from use and age. I'm going to test mine because I need to bleed the brakes... my question is have any of you seen DOT 5 in a color other than purple...

what do you use to clean up carc paint and tools

I actually didn't thin it when I did my winch and fenders a couple years ago and it went on pretty well. If I remember right, the guy at the sherwin williams shop said to use MAK (yes, thats MAK, not MEK) I had never heard of it, but he said it could be bought through them (they were out at the...

    MEP362 Turbine problem

I would assume the fuel dump on shutdown is the combustor drain, which is normal...as long as fuel doesn't come out while its running, you're good. And I'm guessing you figured out the other problem. I've worked on aircraft for a while, so feel free to pm me with questions on this, specifically...

Stolen credit card info at gl

Be careful with that. I had my Paypal linked to the bank account too a few years ago. Someone spent a few grand... I got it all back, but it took about a month. Being it was over $100 I had to file a police report. A few weeks later, the detective called and said it was tracked to a computer...

    Engine block cracked

They people at Lock N Stitch were great.... very helpful, and their website explains just about anything you want to know. For the price and how long it took for the repair you can't beat it with a stick, in my opinion.

    Engine block cracked

So I fixed this crack in August, just haven't got around to posting pics of it. I went with stitching pins. For $125 I got 25 pins, tapping fluid, thread sealant, 2 drill bits and 1 tap. I used around 6 pins for the repair and it took about an hour to do. I've only been able to drive the truck...

    Engine block cracked

While I'm off the next few day I'm gonna look more into stitching and talk to some friends about welding. I don't have an arc welder or torch, but can get them. Either way I'll have to practice on a block from a junk yard first, I don't weld much at all. Whatever I do, I'll post pics when I'm...
