the rest of pics. Last picture shows how it sits as of now. The springs are mounted to frame and the truck is sitting on the axle, it's just not bolted to the springs. We're waiting on a few air lines and custom cut u-bolt plates and then the axle will be mounted for good and it will drive
Well I started bobbing my 5-ton with my good friend and the help of his shop, Performance Innovations in Wilmington NC.
We had been talking about it for a little while and then decided to just go for it. Boy am I glad we did. It's not done yet but it is already 10 times cooler. So here are some...
I won't be hauling other than a few people, and might tow my boat every now and then, it weighs 10,700 with a tongue weight near 1k. might also tow a car trailer with a 2k tongue load
first off, rear springs. Can 105 trailer springs be used? I've got one I can use if it will take the weight.
if not, next choice would be deuce front springs in the hope that they wouldn't be as stiff and ride better than 5 ton front springs.
Also, I've heard people talk about rotating the...
I've noticed a few of the auctions I've seen on gl have this where i'm used to seeing UEC's
Bidding Restrictions
Non DLA Disposition Services Property:This lot is subject to specific Non DLA Disposition Services Property Terms & Conditions as described at...
I generally try to keep it around 2k, but i find that it keeps wanting to creep up, crusied for a while at 21, but every now and then going down hill it would just want to go faster and get close to 2300.
guess i'm just trying to convince myself I didn't hurt it
can somebody tell me what the maximum safe rpm, or redline is for the 250? both my trucks have had no stickers on the tach, and the ones i see on gl differ from 2,000 to 2,400. I know the peak power is 2,100 but what about about a safe cruising rpm
cummins nhc250 vs 8.3 and a1 vs a2
before telling me to search, I did, read what i found but it was kind of old and not all that i was looking for.
I would like to know from people who have experience with both to chime in on the differences between the two. They put out close to the same...
sand isn't too bad. i take my trucks out on the beach all the time. it's mud that scares me. You don't just keep sinking in sand if you're not moving, and it also doesn't create a suction on the truck either. If you start spinning tires too much just stop and let more air out of the tires.
well since this thread is still active, I should share that I've figured it out. A cdl is only required for COMMERCIAL driving. if it's personal use you don't need it. In this state, because of the weight I need a class b standard license, NON CDL
crap you are right it is tubeless. Is there any way I can put a tube in it to salvage it? where can I find info on changing it myself, or will I have to take it somewhere.
It's 150 miles from home, so if the spare happens to blow too, I guess I could always chain up that side of the axle
I just purchased a 5ton with a flat tire. I've never had a 5ton, or a deuce, with singles on it before. in the first picture you will see the flat tire.
My question is : is that tire fully flat or still holding some air? I would think that if it were at 0, then the rim would be on the ground...
What are a set of troop seats and bows worth. They could use a new coat of paint as some has flaked off, and the bows have fiberglass legs but the roof section is wood and most are broken.
as of the last update I've now got it fixed right!!!! a good night of sleep and tearing everything apart today i got the new belt on and everything back together. It was so stuck i didnt think it would even come off.
now on to the last problem. The tachometer stopped working last night during...
thank you for all the help and advise. Was able to figure out that we had missed one bolt, but even after that we were doing everything right and it would just not budge. Thankfully somebody suggested to use legs from pantyhose, and that's what worked!!!
Bought a 3 pack of pantyhose and used 5...
***UPDATE:: Made it home finaly!!!
I'm in Maryland stuck on the side of the road because I lost the belt that drives the water pump in my 9series 5ton . I bought a new one from a napa down the road and cannot get it on! Just to be clear, the belt I bought has a part number 25-22425
I've read...
so after research and seeing the replies here, I will need a class A regular license because the main reason for me getting the 5ton is to bob it and then use it to tow my boat. If I didn't have to tow my boat (10,500lbs on trailer without fuel) then i would just be getting a class B.
I'm thinking about finally moving up to a 5ton 9series but I was recently told that I would have to get a cdl to legaly drive it just because it is full air brakes. Is that the case? I will eventually convert and title it as an RV as I have with my deuces, which will eliminate the problem with...
