Front axle seals and boots stepXstep

I beat the ever-loving snot out of that sucker every time I take this apart. It seems to be more of a pain in the rear every time I remove it. I think the most effective method was to strike the arm near the connection with the drag link, then drive a chisel under it once a small separation...

Front axle seals and boots stepXstep

JCKnife, I pulled a picture that Banshee365 uploaded. Then highlighted the thrust washers in a red rectangle. When I pulled mine apart, the washers didn't look bad so I never touched them. TMMV Good luck, and keep on truckin! Dave

Some video of my first M35A2

Truckoholic, Very cool Vid! What are you burning in it? The exhaust looked a little blue, but that may have been lighting... I can't wait to see the one of your 813! Did you move the headlights down? Anyone know if that was a common "Unit Modification" for some reason? Dave

    2011 Haspin Micro Rally ???

Augie, I have been looking for an excuse to head over to Haspin again... Unfortunately I may already have plans on the 3rd. Put me down as tentative, but I will try like heck to make an appearance! Dave

    M135 or M211 bob-job's? Anyone?

If you are looking for pictures / ideas, Clinto posted a couple pics of a bobbed M220 in post 4 of this thread... http://www.steelsoldiers.com/early-deuce/7292-bobbed-early-duce.html I'm not much of a "bobber lover", but these old ones look pretty cool! Dave

PTO Input Shaft Bearings -- Source?

I just realized that I committed the worst offense possible on SS (and no its not searching before I post!) I never came back and posted my solution! I was never able to find the correct replacement needle bearings. I ended up buying a takeout PTO from a local parts guy. He made me a pretty...

    Return fuel line Fittings

M35A2-AZ, Below is a page from the PS that Cranetruck posted in another thread a EARLIER TODAY! He was referencing the airpack service half of the page, but there is some good info on the fuel lines. It just goes to show you that sometimes I actually remember something I read around here :D...

M51A2 dump truck a video i took today

B4Thunder, I love the working truck vids! If I could I would spend hours on Youtube! Is it working for personal or business use? Not that I would have let him before, but there is no way Gimpy is driving my truck now!!! What the heck did you have to do to a MF to snap the crank...

    What PTO is this?

Jime, You definitely don't have a WN-7-28 (The Spicer PTO for the Deuce winch). The flange looks like it has a different bolt pattern than the correct one. The bolt pattern on the M35 has six bolts. Two on two sides and one on each of the other two sides. The cover and the transmission to...

    Fuel Dilution... 9% !!!!

DH / m-35tom, I have been doing some researching, and some figuring..... (which one is more dangerous is a toss up!) It looks like there are a couple of ways to remove the booster pump (pull the front mount bolts and shift the engine, or pull the entire IP). Neither of these sounds like a lot...

Front axle seals and boots stepXstep

Wheel Bearing adjustments are covered in TM 2320-361-24-1 work package 189..... I pasted it below for reference. Basically, Tighten the nut to 50 foot pounds, then back off 1/8 of a turn.

    leaking IP

I use McMaster Carr company, but any industrial supply company will carry them (at least any ones that I'm familiar with!) Floridianson posted a link to the sizes / grainger part numbers in post #11 above... check it out! I used the Viton Rings for mine, they are tough stuff! The worst part...

    M109 recovery trip.

I didn't think about it, but I should have told you that my M109A3 (your's sister) has the new air pack too... Glad you got it straightened out though! [thumbzup] Ahhhhh that brings back memories ... of just a couple weeks ago! It is a funny feeling driving an army tuck on and off base...

    M109 recovery trip.

Phil, rbeasley, If this is one of the 3 that sold in late May, you guys are picking up one of the sisters to my M109A3! We flat towed ours home with the M35a2 about a month ago... A pretty uneventful trip, thank God! I took a quick look at the other trucks and noticed a low tire on one of...

    M109 electrical

Russell, Give WP 20 in TM 9-2320-361-10 a good read. I will say the instructions didn't make much sense to me until I could put my hands on the switches and see the light / outlets / heater run. A thorough read will give you a good head start! Good luck with the truck! Dave

    lookin for a m197 dolly

:ditto: I haven't seen one for sale... But then, I haven't ever really looked for one either ( I have sort of assumed they are awful spendy...) Good luck with your search, I'll be keeping an eye on this thread! Dave
