    airborne M1010

These trucks suspension tends to magnify bumps for sure! Here in Atlanta on the 85 to 285 ramp there is a slight bump on the overpass as experienced in my wife's explorer. In the M1009 it's a "hold on for your life, I think I can make it" bump. And that's at 45 mph:neutral:

Dorman oil cooler lines in depth Review

No worries at all 9er. I just wish you had better luck with the delcos. The new contractor making the lines for Delco obviously got this batch wrong unfortunately.

Dorman oil cooler lines in depth Review

Man that bites. I'm sorry you are having trouble. This is a stupid question so bare with me. Did you try swapping them around? I only ask because I tried installing them opposite at first.

Dorman oil cooler lines in depth Review

As long as they are Delco I don't foresee any issues with installation. Dormans, not so much.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I believe any airborne liquid based nerve agents would be detected. Its funny though, its detector is mounted to the floor to detect any nerve agents entering the cab via the air vents. By then it's too late for the crew unless they were already in MOP-4. Both units are detachable so you could...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Yup, it's supposed to be part of the intercom so I could monitor both receivers in back. Its a c-10456 used in M-1 tanks but it should be a c-2299 for use with an RT-246. I have an RT-524 in back so technically that wouldn't be accurate either. I may just remove it but the coolness factor may be...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Added an M-42 chemical agent alarm to the interior. I also added the mount to the passenger floor board, but I'm having a hard time finding the M-43 detector unit and associated mount.

CUCV head gasket / head/ or change engine survey

Man, after doing all that how are you able to form complete sentences in a post? Those are all prime "rehydrating" activities, with the exception of the motorcycling of course Just kidding around, Your truck is progressing nicely Rick. BTW, my transmission has been flawless for...

Dorman oil cooler lines in depth Review

Rock auto has the in stock. 12472199 12472200 You will lose half a pint or so if you don't cap the lines while you change them.

how hard do you drive it

75 MPH indicated, 62 MPH true. For some reason that feels like the sweet spot while on the highway. M1009 31in stock tires

    Barn find CUCV recovery

Rick, that truck looks right off the assembly line! Well done as usual. It's funny you mention the grill. Both my corners were broken and repaired with globs of epoxy putty by the boys in green.

    M1009 Understanding Warm Start Woes

Good call Rick. Mine may be developing similar symptoms. Guess it's getting time to rebuild my IP also. Glad you're fixed Taylor!

    Afghanistan M1009

It's amazing. A vehicle which was considered a quick stop gap measure back in 1984 is still serving our county in combat 31 years later. Thanks for sharing and be safe.

    CUCV Brush guard attachment

I agree with stumpjumper. We used to carry concertina wire strapped to the hood of HMMWV's but I suspect that wouldn't work on CUCV's due to the lack of hard points for cargo straps. Looks like two rolls would fit well on that rack and you could ratchet them down well. Maybe this was a more...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I'd be more than happy to help. Be prepared, it took me 10 man hours to complete! Thanks for all the compliments boys.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

I have the plate mounted to right of the hitch on the bumper. I spliced into the trailer harness to light it. The only draw back is I have to remove the plate when towing because it covers the trailer plug, which is only once in the last year. Note my L/H tail lense is removed for painting also.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Painted the Beast last week. It turned out well I think. I followed the FM drawings and used Gillespie rattle cans and Rustoleum professional flat black. I taped and masked then airbrushed the demarcation lines to soften them up a bit.
