Glad I could help, Yes I was blowing out the seals on the winch side and filling the winch with fluid.
It was blow when I got it and had it repaired and used it two times and it did it again.
Been OK so far.
Here is my understanding (lookout LOL) When you are using the motor and reverse the motor there is an area between the seals that can build up pressure and needs to be able to bleed off that pressure, that is what the case drain does is bleeds off that unwanted pressure.
Are something like that...
No there was not a tap hole. I drilled and tapped the fitting for the hose. It is a return line so there is no pressure. I did add a check valve on the case drain line.
FYI, If your new Parker motor has a allen plug in the bottom side of it, you need add a case drain to it. If not you will be replacing it soon. I had my motor repaired two times before they told me it needs a case drain.
I am interested in having a manual fan switch (air or Elec.) but keep the automatic fan switch also.
The problem I am having is venting the air when you turn the manual switch off . I saw the switch from Eric's and that looks great but when the auto switch turns on it will vent out that switch...
Replace it, But you will have to put the pickup tube on the inside of it. Not sure if the A2's are the same as the A1"s,
But the pickup tube is soldered to the 90 degree part on the inside of the tank.
If your getting air out when you remove the vent, it is not working right. I would replace them out a a central vent system ti all the axles. Here is a thread about them.

Here in AZ I am always looking for them. I know they are there someplace, Do not put yours hands and feet were you can not see.
Do not go out at night without a light.
