get a pump off a 816, it has a aux. gov. that will hold the rpm, may have to REset the pump for the 400, it should be a bolt on install with no mods needed

There seems a bigger problem here, the under-dash smoking, hooking up the batteries may give more smoke, or the possibility of bare wires due to heat (smoke usually comes from heat). Has ANYBODY thought to find the source of the smoke AND fixing that. With loose wires at the batteries would lead...
