The number one rule when installing electrical gizmos (or doing any electrical work) is to remove the negative wires from both batteries. That prevents the electrical fireworks from appearing right before things stop working.

The glow plug control card switches the light blue wire to ground to allow current flow through the relay coil so yes you should see voltage on both small posts. When the truck is running do you measure voltage on both large posts?

You should do a search for the TM/manuals as they have the schematics in them.

Do you have a wire that connects your neutral (grounded conductor) to the generator frame? Is your ground rod bonded to the generator frame?

According to this the generator neutral (grounded conductor) is not to be bonded the grounding electrode system. However the generator ground (grounding conductor) is to be bonded to the grounding electrode system. In other words keep the generator neutral isolated from the generator ground...
