Did you contact Mike about your boot problem? Do you have any installed-on-the-axle pictures of how they were torn? Might help to figure out why the new ones failed.
That's not cheap Chinese junk. New Star/S&S makes good quality items. They make parts for OTR trucks, charter buses, transit buses, military trucks, Dana axles, etc. Where do you think the dealers get their supply of new replacement parts? Not from the govt! - From New Star.
Re: RE: exhaust back pressure
I can't see how the Napa muffler would cause the back pressure to raise. It's a straight through muffler. In fact, I would lean towards it lowering back pressure because of the increased surface area to dissipate the heat. Less heat would lower the pressure...
I guess the key is to design the system for your needs. If you install an equalizer that handles only 20 amps and you have been averaging a load of 50 amps, you didn't setup the system to meet your needs. In the transit buses, the battery equalizer is always powered (Not with Opcom's setup)...
P.S. Opcom Installed a battery equalizer in his Deuce. And added a relay to kill it with the accessory switch off.

I agree. That shouldn't be on here. That might be the cool thing on Pirate 4x4...Not here.
With regards to ATF and hydro fluids...I have run a fair bit of it. My VW gets priority over my available biodiesel. So, many times I have run tanks of free ATF/VTM4, and hydro fluids. It is all new...
Excellent post. Very informative.
One of the problems with the stock trans is that they DO break. The second gear will seize up on the shaft. Tom has solved that. The better overdrive is a plus.
Re: RE: Towing?
Make sure you have both gear boxes and all three diffs full before you tow your truck home. Even in Neutral, you will damage bearings if there is no lube.
