    wait a minute now guys, if he's only getting 64HP, then there is an issue with the engine. Sounds like you have a combination of a tired injection pump and poor injectors. that engine should put out at least 160HP without a turbo.

    it should not get hot, I'm betting that the glow plugs in your truck are fried now, also the glow plug relay and the ballast resistor on the firewall.

    getting the hydraulic winch setup that the humvee uses (milemarker) would be a better option. It runs off of the power steering pump (the cucv has the same pump as the humvee).

    put the thing back together and take it to a starter shop, tell them its a 24v starter, should be $125 for a full rebuild.

    nothing much at all, the 6.5 has slightly larger cups (not much diff at all) so the compression would drop to ~20:1 (from stock 21:1) power would not change at all, unless you upped the fuel.
