It will seem to lose its prime after sitting for a couple of days not running. I can usually crank it until it starts to hit on a couple of cylinders then it will self bleed and run normal after a couple of minutes. I have tried to pump the primer on the left side, before I start it, but it...
I still want to know how two of you slept in the truck! And I agree with the pax seat-- it was not designed with any comfort in mind. I guess "soldier "B" was expendable. Looking into an aircraft interior friend redoing mine with all the trick foam with different densities.
Nice truck!! I recently got a M931A2 as well in Oklahoma and drove it the 200 miles back home. I only took a fuel filter, serp. belt, 5 gallons of water and 5 gallons fuel. I had zero problems and it run like a top. Ain't they fun to drive? Wife says it rides a little stiff, but she likes to...
Thank you Juan for taking the time to call me on the phone to check and see how I was making out with my turn signal gremlins. I really appreciate the help with this. Hope I can repay the favor sometime. John R Dunn /Sambor
Yeah, I discovered that the composite light housings have 2 grounds-- one for the regular bulbs and one for the LED B/O's. Each goes to a mounting bolt. I think I maybe have had several too many brewskis already.
Lets see if I can get all this down so one of the electrical wizards can give me some advice. The truck came with both rear light assys. broken. the right was damaged pretty bad and the left was cracked. These were metal housings, not the composite. The right tail lamp acted like a turn signal--...
It's really great for someone like Jeff to take time from his work to shoot the breeze with a new 931 owner and answer a lot of questions AND get me some parts I need. Thanks Jeff, I appreciate it very much. John R Dunn Weatherford Texas
I just filled out my form so I can register in Texas. I put down the 20,100 lbs. for the 931A2. Not sure about rules in HI , but in Texas a CDL is not required under 26K. I also put down the miles on it when I took delivery. HOpe this helps, John
Picked up the 931A2 in Norman Ok. today around 1:30 and pulled into Fort Worth at 5:30 Travelled a little over 190 miles on a little more than a half tank-- gauge appears to be pretty accurate. Speedo is within 1-2 MPH of dead on. The soldier at the base had already made sure it started and...
The insurance is for liability only. I plan to use it for farm use, so that might make a difference. It figures out to 509.00 per year. I don't know about the 30 day permit. The on e I have is from the Motor Carrier Division-- same as semi's. When I spoke with them, it was explained that because...
I just had a very pleasant experience with the DMV here in Texas. I wanted to get a temporary registration for a 931A2 I am going to Oklahoma to pick up tomorrow. They took my info over the phone, assigned me a customer # and sent me the permit by email-- all in the span of 1 hour. Costs is...
Trukhead, you cracked me up about the rocks-- never would have thought of that until I had been beaned with one. Luckily, mine has a hardtop. I like the idea of a 50-55 mph drive. I ain't in no hurry. All my other trucks are 45-50 tops anyway. I am thinking my 46Dodge WFA will make about 50-55...
you have to disconnect the processor. I did read the ops manual as well as the TM for the system. How about explaining the fluids used on the trucks-- I know about the engine oil. How about the trans and PS system. From the lube TM it appears that 10wt. oil is used. Thanks, John
I like the idea of dropping the TP, but with the CTIS, can you drop just a couple or can I just drop them all? I guess the ether cans are a standard thing-- I assume that you are not referring to the over the counter spray cans I use on my tractors in the winter?
Thanks for the info-- I have the tractor as well. Where in the TM's can I find the specs for the type trans and PS fluids? Are the ether cans available at the normal large truck shops or are they mil spec only.
I have only driven one 5 ton cargo for about 5 miles-- not enough to see what they run at. Can someone enlighten me on what to expect from the truck: provided of course I can get it to run the 184 miles home. I have already put together my road kit from the lists kindly posted by members here...
Won the bid for a M931A2 in Norman Oklahoma yesterday. Shows 196 miles and 15 hours. Running condition unknown right now. I just hope won't take much to get it going so I can drive it the 184 miles to Fort Worth. Otherwise, it will have to be towed to a friends shop in Edmond Oklahoma. Do the...
Thanks Joe for the info. Found a few of the plugs on Epay. We do business jet maintenance and refurb. I have been in it for a little over 38 years-- at the same airport! I want to make 40 years then just retire to work on my old trucks and the farm. John
Hello, just joined the forum. I am in Fort Worth and own an aircraft maintenance facility. I am trying to locate one of the jumper cable plugs for this series. Anyone have a spare or a place to get them? When you win one of the trucks on GL, have the lug wrenches already disappeared with the...
