Looking at the circuit diagram appendix F of the -20, that plug should have 4 wires. Left, right, tail and back up lights. It looks like the tab broke and someone cut the wires from the plug and spliced them together with a crimp on terminal.

There is a whole section in the TM on troubleshooting the volt meter. From memory there is a fuse and a relay involved. But, most have a bad resister as mentioned above. The TM is going to tell you to just replace it.

I have had a lot of trouble with corrosion in the light sockets in the dash. I ended up pulling the dash out and cleaning all of the contact points.

RE: New to me M1008 - Checklist before fire up? I would also just lightly brush the battery cable to the post or better yet use a small gage wire, just in case there is a dead short somewhere. Having batteries blow up in your face isn't much fun.

To make myself clear, I would add the house current maintainer to the Solargizers and run both if you are not getting enough sun for the Solargizers to keep the batteries up by itself.
