Maybe someone previewing it, removed it. Maybe the turn in information had the info. Too much to guess, to make a claim.

Are saying the data plates were there when you previewed, but gone when you picked it up? A picture would probably help. Have you brought this issue up to GL yet? How can you place the blame?

Is the plastic burned or the broken stud end? If it's the plastic, heat From electrical load. If it's the stud burned, arced after it broke. Hard to say anything for sure, other than you need to fix the stud or replace the alt.
