I used a pipe wrench and a cheater pipe to break the nut loose. Then I chained the trailer to tree and the lunette to a tractor and it did not come loose. Hitting it dead on is the best way to remove it and it will fall out.
If you can find the part new or nos they should be better than rebuilding the part. I have heard that the cast pits bad and you can never get a good seal again
