I need an equipment trailer for my M931A2. What trailer should I be looking for? It doesn't seem like there were a lot of military equipment trailers. I need to be able to haul about a 20k lb machine.
Than an you for any information!!!
I've got a M931A2 and I'd like to be able to pull an end dump trailer. I've seen several of you guys say you pull end dumps with your 931, but I haven't seen anyone talk about how they set up their hydraulics or what brand of trailer and model they are running. Was the height of the hitch on the...
I am picking up a M931A2 I bought from GL on Thursday. I see there are a bunch of updates to the TMs. Should I just bring everything or are there just a couple I will need in case of emergency on the way home?
Any other advice for pick up day would be appreciated as well. The truck was sold as...
My Wiper fuse blows every time I turn on the truck whether the wipers are on or not. I've traced the wiring and do not see any obvious shorts. Before I start buying and replacing parts does anyone know of a common place where this circuit shorts out with age? There has been no modification to...
So a friend of mine picked up an exceptionally clean M1008 from Kansas last week. I've been working with him to try to get it running, but we are having some trouble. The truck turns over smoothly with new batteries. The glow plug system is working perfectly with new glow plugs and appropriate...
I went down to my local parts store for brakes for my M1008 and they had no idea what brakes to get for me. I told them the VIN, that didn't help, I told them that its a Dana 60 and a Corporate 14 bolt, didn't help, I told them to look it up as a K30, that didn't help.
I don't know what to...
I have a 1985 M1008. I've never messed with the timing at all, but lately I've become concerned that it is possibly too advanced as there is a lot of diesel rattle and I don't know if I'm being paranoid or if it is really bad timing. It seemed to get better when I added some sea foam to...
My suspension on my 1008 is starting to make a lot of noise, especially at slow speed in parking lots and what not. I'm assuming that it is caused by worn rubber bushings, although I'm having a hard time pinpointing where the noise is coming from. Does anyone know of a complete suspension kit...
Two questions guys, and thank you for the replies ahead of time. I searched both of these topics and didn't come up with much in the way of specific answers.
1. Can the short injectors be used in my 6.2? I've been thinking about this as I am collecting parts to put a 6.5 turbo on my M1008 and...
I'm a commercial printer, and it occurred to me that I could do a nice job of printing TMs on nice paper if people were interested in owning a hard copy of the books. I haven't taken the time to figure out how much they would cost, but if people are interested I will. They could have a variety...
These turbos are cheap as heck. Has anyone built a setup for their CUCV with one of these things? What would you all think about trying to do just that? They go for only $180 new with a one year warranty...
I brought my M1008 to the emissions testing place here in Denver and after the truck passed (on the first try!) I asked the guy if the Dyno also read HP and torque. He said it did read peak numbers, but not the whole curve.
So I asked if he would run my truck again just to get some new numbers...
This is just out of curiosity, are there any of these things still around? If I just cut that port out of my harness would it hurt anything? I wouldn't mind keeping the port if I thought I could find a tester around somewhere. Has anyone ever seen one come up on GL?
In the Marines our Oshkosh trucks had an electric high idle switch and our HMMWVs had a manual throttle lock cable that you could pull out and lock in place to hold the engine rpm at the desired level. Has anyone rigged up either of these in a CUCV? The switch would be the coolest, but I think...
I was about to install a freeze plug type engine block heater this weekend when I thought of some questions that I needed answered before I get into this.
-Has anyone used a heater hose type engine warmer instead of the freeze plug mounted unit, and what was your opinion of it? They seem much...
Does anyone have a pic of a properly installed gear reduction starter bracket? I've been running without the bracket and with the wrong bolts since i've had my m1008 and i decided that i need to get the proper parts in there, but yesterday i looked under the truck and couldn't quite tell exactly...
I drive my M1008 every day. I replaced the radiator a few weeks ago so that may have something to do with it, but this morning the heat would just blow cold air. I reached under the hood and both heater hoses were cold. Is it possible this is just a bubble in the system somewhere? Someone...
Does anyone know what all of these allis chalmers 4 and 6 cylinder turbo diesel engines came out of? I see them all over GL but I've never actually seen one in use in the military. I don't know anything about them, but there seems to be a lot of them and I'm sure I could come up with a good...
I have a 1985 m1008. I've only had the truck for two weeks and i've been fighting the same issue the whole time. The starter relay went out the first day i had it and i did the recommended fix described in the sticky thread above. The relay works and the starter works, but every time i leave...
