When I bobed my Deuce, I doubled the frames and welded them together then welded plate steel over the welds, extending several inches on either side of the weld. It has seen some serious off-road testing and on-road with no cracks to date. It also has 53" tires and a bit of axle wrap to the...
Thanks, talked to him, nice guy but a little too far to drive. I would like to find something a little closer to North Florida if possible. If not, then I'll make a trip up there.
Does anyone have a line of a 5 ton top load steering axle? I need one for a project that I'm doing. Good takeout, 6.44, brakes not needed, prefered u-joint shafts. Thanks, Allan, 352-256-3483
Steve, I've been hard at work. Or is that hardly working? Can't remember. I did get the winch mounted on the Deuce with Jim and Aarons help and some much needed tlc. Have a few more things to do to it like replacing the air tanks that I have sitting in the garage from Saturn Surplus and some...
Looking good Justin, and by the way, the frame extension that you sent me worked out perfect. Thank you very much. Sorry I haven't gotten back to you on the phone. Keep up the good work. I will post some pictures of the final setup with the double bumpers and winch mount that I ended up with.
I would not weld the perches because they are castiron. Bolt them on with grade 8 bolts and they will hold just fine. better than the hot rivets that came on them from the factory. As far as the tires rubbing, if you don't plan on taking it offroad much you probably won't have much of a problem...
Yes, I drove mine around for 8 months without rear shocks and it really bounces a lot offroad. I then added a front shock setup from a doner truck and put the shocks on the front of the axle. Works great, no more bouncing.
I'm looking for a pair of NOS doors for my m35A2 or a really nice used set. Tired of windows not working and cracked window. Let me know if you have a set you can bring to the rally and price, Thanks.
I think that it is Stupid to take a picture of the right front corner of a Deuce and post it as an avitar picture.
(Doesn't this make just as much sense?)
Fact: A bobbed Deuce turns much easier and sharper than a duel axle Deuce.
Fact: A bobbed Deuce is easier to drive around tight areas.

Glad that you made it back safe. It was great to meet ya'll and talk for the brief time that we did. Hopefully you saw everytihing you had questions about on the steering. Take plenty of pics of the Deuce in progress and post regularly. Allan.
Please don't use muffler pipe for any kind of roll over protection. Muffler pipe is made to take exhaust gasses away from the engine. Use tubing of at least .120 wall thickness DOM or ERW. DOM is preferred. Bend it with a mandrel tubing bender not a muffler pipe bender that pre-crushes the...
go to mrt-wheels.com marsh racing wheels they have all kinds of custom wheels. ODIron also has wheels (devilman on SS) and I believe that Offroadfabworks on SS also has them.
Sure, set one on top of the other and weld them together then bolt them on. Just kidding, the springs on a Deuce are a lot heavier than a 1 ton spring. I think that you would have a hard time keeping it on the road, it would be a little 'squishy' in the rear and would not hold up very good.
If you are not lifting the truck then you don't have to do anything to the front except wheel an tire if you are changing those. Just ust the hangers and springs from the front of another doner Deuce or a 105 trailer for the rear, cut out the rivets and put the new hangers on with bolts, do not...
