    Windshield Modifications?????

I helped DR pull a Memphis windshield from a truck at Howards. It is a standard deuce windshield frame, with the lip for the soft top cut off. Then, a sheet of 12 gauge is welded across the whole mess. 2 cutouts are made for the glass, with about a 2" radius at the corners. The one we pulled off...

Ok, I'll say it, the deuce is not that "awesome" o

I always try to use all wheel drive in interesting situations, but not impossible ones. Deuces are definately not mud bog trucks. They are quite capable of their designed task, haul cargo across poor roads and battle fields. Like you said: 1) No wheel speed- and you really can't change that...

    Engine Swap Help Turns Bad

A real man would have cauterized that little scratch with a propane torch, used a little Jack Daniels anesthesia, and stapled the cut shut with a box stapler. Maybe 20 minutes, then back to work! Seriously, head wounds sure do bleed!!!! Especially one that takes 20 sutures. Take it easy for a...

    Finger pinchin' @$&!

Those "handles" are tie down points mounted all over deuce frames. I believe they were used when chaining the truck down on a flat car. I think the chain was run through the loop and around the frame. The loop kept the chain from sliding around. You should have a full set under your truck.

POR15 VS Sherwinn Williams 2part epoxy primer

The 2 part epoxy primer should be applied over a conversion coating for maximum corrosion resistance. This can be any of the normally available types, wash primers, Metal Prep, OsPho, etc. The idea is to convert the surface iron to an iron phosphate. The phosphorous combines with the iron very...

    Fuel Pump

from the pictures that is a standard design centrifugal pump. As said, it will not work without the bottom cover! It will also not work without the "shims". Those shims form the pump body, which is shaped like the numeral "9". If you look at the pump, you notice that the open center of the...

    Fort Drum auction

Sounds like your in-tank fuel pump is not pumping, or you have an air leak. I almost ran mine dry one time, and it started like that, 1 cylinder, then another, until all 6 were firing. Except for that one time, mine always bumps over about 2 rounds and fires up on all six, winter, summer, cold...

Use dry graphite. You can still buy it in the little plastic squeeze tubes. It is used to keep lock cylinders working smoothly.

    Replacement Body Panels

The rocker panels can be made by any sheet metal shop. the military had replacements to be welded in by motorpool personnel. The bottom of the door can be fixed with a simple weld-in patch.

Removing Paint on the Gauge Faces

Very carefully scrape the paind off with a knife point. Don't go down to the gauge face itself. Finish chipping off the paint with a plastic disposable knife. Get some polishing compound on a soft cloth and rub rub rub. You can do a fairly good job this way. I have been slowly replacing mine...
