My truck has been converted to 12 volts.
Can I hook up my batteries straight to the power bars on th the firewall (each + to the power bar and each - to the power bar) and get the same effect as hooking them in parallel (+ to + and - to -)?
Is one better than the other would I get the same...
My M1009 just started to make noise from the power steering pump when it is under a load (turning while siting in one place)
If I am rolling it doesn't do it... I put on a new belt (the shorter one for better fitting) and it still does it.
The fluid it correct.
Is this a sign of the pump...
I picked up a vdo 333-158 tach.
I read all the posts about where to hook up the tach... but I am getting odd readings.
Is this the correct location? This pic shows the right side alternator.... see the red wire with the blue connector?
Anyone use the vdo 333-158 tach and have success?
I bought some leather seats out of a Explorer... They mount right up to the m1009 seat brackets. Only problem is they are a bit too high and sit too forward.
I'm trying to get an idea of how to fabricate or modify some brackets so these seats fit a little better.
Has anyone made any custom...
I have an 85 CUCV with about 50k miles.
I just put on a freshly rebuilt IP, new glow plugs, new glow plug relay. I have a spin on filter and an electric lift pump that is on the frame rail mid-truck so it pushes fuel thru the filter to the IP. There is also a one-way valve before the filter...
I am returning from Afghanistan in a few weeks and I'm considering selling my M1009. I love the truck but I think my needs have changed over the last 4 years.
I have no idea what they are going for these days...other than what I've seen on e-bay ($9000 ?!?!).
I'm not certain I'll sell ...
I'm considering doing a rebuild/build-up. 6.2 Buildup
My current setup is an 85 M1009 with either 50k or 150K miles (who really knows) and a Banks turbo added about 2 years ago.
The reason I am considering this is two fold
1. For the experience and project aspect (I can get my sons involved...
Are there any new/upgraded/improved parts that can be installed in an IP when rebuilding it?
Or is a rebuild pretty much going to use stock parts albeit new
I replaced my oem filter with a generic spin on base and filter and installed an electric fuel pump.
I have been having hard start issues if the truck sits for any time.
I moved the pump to the frame rail so I was "pushing" fuel to the filter and IP. This didn't solve the issue.
What I'd...
I have an 85 M1009 that I put a new Banks Turbo on a few years ago. Now I'd like to put A/C.
Since the factory A/C pump goes on the same side as the turbo (I think), how would one go about installing A/C on a M1009 with a Banks System?
Is there an after market system that mounts to the left...
I was having an air leak issue in my fuel lines and I though it was because I was pulling the fuel to the front of the truck. So, I put the pump on the frame rail in the middle of the truck so it would push into the filters and IP.
So, now when the tank is 1/4 or lower and it sits over night...
I think I am having alt/charging issues.
My 1009 has been converted to 12V and I only have the right alternator.
My batteries are about 2yrs old and I use a solargizer for passive maintenance.
I put an after market volt meter in and it read about 14V fro a long time.... now it is pegged above...
Is it better to push or pull the fuel through the filter
e.g lift pump sits between the filter and the IP pulling through the filter and pushing to the IP
or
the lift pump sits between the tank and the filter pushing to the filter and IP
Some how I am getting air into my fuel system. I am having a horrible time fixing it.
Usually it happens when the truck sits for a few hours and on a slope... but it happens on flats occasionally and this morning it happened after idling for 20 minutes and then about 2 miles down the road it...
I have a M1009 and a 2000 diesel chevy van
I'd like to put a slave receptacle on the van and build a slave cable to jump between the two ... I usually have to jump them once or twice on the coldest days.
Then I'd like to build an adapter for the slave cables to go to regular jumper clamps...
I have an air leak somewhere in my system.
Every time I let the truck sit for a few hours it starts then runs for about 20 seconds and dies. I have to crank it for about 20 seconds to get the air out.
I put a one-way valve in my fuel line right after the hard line that comes forward from...
I might be taking a job overseas and I'll need to prep my truck for storage.
Can you guys give me some pointers as to long term storage of an M1009?
Thanks
Anyone know what size the castle nuts are that hold the ball joints?
I have every size except that one and I'd like to buy the correct size and I can't find my caliper.
How do I get the front rotors off the hub? I pulled every thing off the spindle and looked at the TM but it really doesn't shay/show how to get the rotor off.
Mine seems to be press onto the hub has the lugs going through it.
Help
I'd like to change my gearing in my M1009.
I want to be able to cruise on the highway and be able to tow a decently loaded small trailer.
It is my understanding that I currently have the stock 3.08 gears.
So, given that (from what I can find) the redline of the 6.2 is 3600 rpm Would I be...
