I think that was suggested when ARMYMAN30YearsPlus was killed in Korea. Not sure if it was tabled for future discussion, in the works, or decided against.
We have a lot of great folks here that are going to be sorely missed when they're in formation for the final Roll Call. Seeing their names...
Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones today. He will be more than welcome to sit shotgun in my deuce for Monday's parade. I'll leave the spot open for him.
Congrats on the buy. I really want a stock one but just can't justify pulling the trigger to get it. If I can convince the wife we really need a tractor I can ease in to "well maybe a SEE would be better all around than just a tractor" and go from there.
Of course if anyone would like to trade...
I just got a quote from Gulfway for a deuce, M1010, M37, '57 F100, and MKT for $700 per year with $500,000 liability and no garaging requirements. The funny part is my regular auto policy is with Traveler's and they won't insure the duece but the Gulfway quote uses Traveler's as their underwriter.
I had the same issue with my deuce. Everyone said just replace it instead of rebuilding. Now I have 1 bleeder valve that is metric.
This M37 is a parade ride and nothing else. I intend to make sure it is safely drivable but not worried about hitting the highway with it or lasting another 50...
I've always been curious as to how things work so enjoy rebuilding them to see. Of course it helps having someone around that's done it before so you don't screw it up, especially with brakes.
Today TexAndy, Keith_J, and I started rebuilding the wheel cylinders on my M37. It turns out that they needed it in a serious way. There was quite a bit of corrosion in all 4 cylinders and we actually had to pull the shoes away from the cylinders then cycle them to get 2 of the pistons out. On...
Really? Without the OP stating that he was injured in some manner folks are just supposed to assume that there is a physical issue and not just a case (as in your post) that someone doesn't know how to write something legible in the English language? Or perhaps we should all just pretend we're...
One of the things I love about this site is you can learn something new every day (you and Mike must have been typing at the same time).
Do you have a little "v3" sticker to go with that upgrade? ;)
Another thing I did today was try out my new MBU.
At the Temple Air Show last month I had one burner go out and have not been able to get it going since (per the TM it seems to be fuel pump issue). I went from having 14 MBUs and no MKT to having an MKT with just six burners and now one that...
Back to work.
I mentioned that the right rear leveling leg was binding up quite a bit. I picked one up from the same person I bought the non-used replacement frame. I finally got around to replacing it today.
Changing out the legs is pretty simple. Earlier in the post you might have seen...
Just getting the deuce ready for the Independence Day Parade circuit. Only issue so far is a minor fuel leak at the primary filter. I'm going to let it cool off a little this evening before I try delving in to that.
Anybody that would like to participate in events in and around San Antonio is...
My comments were based simply on knowing that switching from all drums to a disc/drum combination requires a proportioning valve. The all drum vehicles I have always worked on have been from the '50s and none, including the M37, had proportioning valves so I don't really understand why simply...
I would recommend selling the A1 and put that money towards an A2 or A3. By the time you're done swapping axles with the additional money you could have one that's already set up for civy wheels without destroying the originality of the A1.
I've been through just about every gate at Ft Sam and have to say I've never seen such a sign. Same can be said while I was stationed at Ft Polk, Ft Lewis, and the Yakima Training Center. Of course I was never looking for one either. I'll be sure to check next time I go through.
Is the DRMO yard and GL yard seperate? Could be a DRMO issue and not a GL issue. I know at Ft Sam the DRMO guys go ballistic if you get close to any of their stuff.
All I know is I spent about an hour with 40grit DA sandpaper today trying to feather out Vietnam era OD green off a M37 fender that was applied by the military with a brush. It was well cured to say the least. It wouldn't have been too bad if it wasn't for the ridges from the brush strokes.
I tried that but the problem with 100 degree heat and no insulation is that you can't get enough cool air to stay up with the heat coming off the floorboard, firewall, and roof. I can keep the box at about 70 but the cab is around 110. I even ran an ac invertor and put a box fan in the doorway...
