Steelandcanvas is correct. This is the ground wire. Too many times a ground wire is omitted in truck to trailer pigtails in the hopes that grounding will be accomplished thru the fifth wheel, pintle hitch, trailer ball, etc. This almost always causes problems.

My buddy stuck his D5N the other day. He has always helped me out so I jumped at the chance to help him. Anchored to two trees the M818 idled the Cat out of its quagmire..!! Yes all have air brakes. This mod was done to accomplish the same electrical circuits that are used on the macks that I have or any other civi truck for that matter. Thanks.
