    Replacing M1008 exhaust system

The manifold positions are the same as on a 350 SBC. I know for sure because I swapped the 350 out of my truck and put in a 6.2 with no mods to the exhaust.

Is there a way to hook this tach up?

I searched for HMMWV tach on ebay and came up with an electronic tach driven off the oil pump. Looks like it goes where the vacuum pump would have been. The ad said it was for a 6.5 but it might fit anyway.

Gear oil in the transfer case?

Based on my limited experience with these old trucks, I have found that the manual usually calls for whatever is in the transmission to go in the transfer case. My truck (not a military unit) called for 90wt in the transmission (SM465) and 90wt in the 205 t-case. My Suburban called for Dex-3...

    Fuel Drain Back hose replacement

I bought a complete kit from SS Diesel with new hoses, clamps, and two caps for the last injectors in the line. They are rubber lines with cloth over the top. Fit was good, no leaks (like I had with the vacuum cap I replaced). My kit only used clamps on the caps, not the lines themselves. ETA...

Universal to Replace Steering Rag Joint?

I hear good things about using the cherokee steering shaft. It's a universal joint connection. I did a search on CK5 and found a good writeup.

    How bad is this flywheel?

My ring gears were welded on my flexplate... On my flywheel they were a press/friction fit.

    How bad is this flywheel?

I would probably leave it and focus on the starter. I had a similar issue, it was a late engagement from the starter. It spun up well enough, but the bendix was slow. 12v starter, so autozone was able to test it. It passed but the guy running the test saw the issue. Swapped it out and never...

The M1008 and the M1028 had 14 bolts front and rear... right?

Only saw one once, on Xtreme 4x4, they made it custom for a Jeep CJ8 or something.

    CUCV Diesel Swap

Understood. What exactly do you figure would be required from the 6.2 CUCV other than the motor? No catalytic converter, and I plan to use a muffler. As for the 6.2 CUCV motor being a federal motor would it not have been an available motor for an '83 1-ton in California? I guess I just...

    CUCV Diesel Swap

Interesting, in the FAQ article, it recommends two different glow plugs. One for stock 24v one for a 12v conversion.

    CUCV Diesel Swap

1984 M1009, My last few vehicles have all been manuals, I guess I'm just getting tired of shifting... And as far as clutches go, the one in that 465 is actually pretty nice, I just don't think I really need the granny low and such. I did not mention it but I had planned on Hummer wheels and...
