    Lubing front locking hub assy

Welcome to Steel Soldiers Forum! It is Warn No. 38826. Did you inspect the splinig on your axle shaft and hub housing? Often dirt/rust sits in there and prevent new parts from sliding in easily. Walter

    fuel problems. please help!!!

Afaik the problems with the fuel filter base don't occur that sudden when the filter system was left untouched for quite a time (e.g. no filter change lately). Check the fuel lines and clamps from filter to injection pump. Look into the valley between the cylinders for wetness. Walter

    Air cleaner not fitting right

I had the exact same problem for years and never found out what caused the problem. In the beginning all worked like it should but after a filter change long time ago the lid didn't close completely. Buying another original Delco fiter didn't help. So i ended up turning the wing nuts down to...

    m1009 wiper promblem

Do the wipers stop but not return to park position when switched off, or don't they stop at all. In both cases it is mostly a problem with the electrical connections. Inspect both of the plugs on the wiper (2-prong and 3-prong). It is possible to open and clean them. Also make sure the ground...

    model year differences?

Thanks for the clarification! I hoped so much that somebody would chime in on this subject! :jumpin: I bought my M1008 in Sep 1997 from a surpuls dealer here in germany. Maybe the truck left GL way before the modifications took place. Another one: I remember the voltmeter gauge. There are at...

    Taming Transmission Shifts

    M1009 and locakable gas caps

    model year differences?

    Horn stuck on, diode problem

In opposite to lights, wipers etc. the horn is switched with the negative side. When pressing the horn button the circuit is grounded. I assume the diode is to not cause trouble with military parts like communication or radio equipment. Like the ones at the wiper motor or on the back of Gen 2...

    rebuilding the starter

The kit says Delco 37MT starter. Aren't our original starters the 27MT type? AFAIK: 27MT = direct drive 28MT = gear reduction Both available in 12 and 24v version. 37MT from the link is the direct drive, at least this is what the description says. :D Walter

    Glow Plug replacement

If you are still using the automatic glow system, keep in mind that it was designed for "fast" glow plugs like the Wellman G70 or the Delco 13G. The AC 60G are "slow" self regulating glow plugs. If the truck won't start easy when cold, repeat glowing or, if not satisfied, change glow behaviour...

Putting a cigarette lighter in a CUCV

Could be right, last time i saw a CUCV with an original (not aftermarket) ignition lock cylinder is long long ago. But I'm still a bit confused about the description in the OP manual. Besides that my wipers are indeed wired to work in the acc position too. Maybe someone is able to verfify this...

Putting a cigarette lighter in a CUCV

There is a ACC position. IIRC the wiper is wired to it. Sorry for the quality of the attachment. It's from the Operator's Manual (289-10) Chapter 2, Section III.

New M1028 owner with 208 question

I recently changed a NP208 to a NP205 on my M1008. The 205 uses the short round adapter, so my flat crossmember sits to low. Not so many civilian K30's with the W-shaped NP205 crossmember in my part of the world, so I ended up using 2 extra rubber "blocks" (don't know how to call it) for the...
