    Alternator Problem

Our M923A1 may have found out I'm going to sell it. Recently after a normal engine start, the voltage is low and rises into the red with rpm rise, then ABS light comes on. I shut it down and restart. Sometimes it takes 3 or 4 start cycles to have the voltage stabilize and everything work...

    Sold My Deuce

Well we are finally leaving Ca (resisted using some common nicknames) and put the deuce up for sale. A guy called me from Los Angeles area and wanted to come get it and drive it home - which is 400 miles at 45-48 mph. I told him he was nuts and that half you guys would agree and half would say...

    Winch clutch lever

The operation tech manual states nothing about the hinged lock on the winch for the clutch lever. Is that just to trick old guys like me, or am I missing something. Was quite embarrassing to try and operate the winch until watching a YouTube on the winch and seeing him flip that lock over.

    Hemtt rebuild location

Having traveled to Boise,ID from near Sacramento 2-3 times a year, I noticed HEMTT vehicles on civilian flat beds on HWY 80 in N. Nevada mostly going east. However we passed one going west at Donner Summit last trip. Where are these rebuilt, or is there some other operation ? Thanks

    Self Lubing Speedometer

Our M923A1 has been reading a little high lately at times on the speedometer for the actual speed. Knowing how the speedometer operates I figured that there was dust, rust or oil between magnet and speed cup. Finally the speedo quit with the needle at 8:00 position. The back of the speedo and...

    Spring Brake Chamber Final

Just opened up the spring brake chamber as curiosity got the better of me. And "Holy Crap Batman" the drawing of the spring in the cutaway view really doesn't do that spring justice. I thought I would post a couple of pics to help people be more informed on the brake chambers.

    Spring brake chamber again

After asking about replacement spring brake chambers or parts and not getting much response, I started to dig into them a little deeper. I read about someone here replacing the diaphragm, but stating it had to go in upside down didn't give me a warm and fuzzy feeling. I called Haldex and talked...

    Spring Brake Chambers

What is available for spring brake chamber replacements. It appears the diaphragms from Napa aren't exactly correct (& and my brother thinks we will die if we touch the chamber with the spring in it), and the complete chamber and stem from places online are NOS with who knows how old the...

    Painting the 5 ton

I have an M923A1 5 ton that has the three color camo (green, brown, black). I'm thinking of doing the paint in same color and was wondering between complete base coat then brown & black patterns, or just paint each color area (probably spray can) as needed. I have the paint pot and did my deuce...

    Removing Super Single Tires

I had seen a picture of a tool for helping remove the deuce wheel/tire from the hub, it looked like a 2 pronged pitch fork. Does anyone have pictures or ideas for similar that will work on the 14.00 X 20 ? I pulled a tire off the M923A1 for the first time and used my Kubota bucket, I just won't...

    Placerville, CA Christmas Parade

My brother and I were honored to be part of the Placerville Christmas Parade on Dec. 7th. We had the M923A1 representing the Toys For Tots and had a Marine Major General (retired) and Lt. Colonel and other vets with wives and kids in back. A special thanks to Paul (SS member) from Cool, CA. who...

    Sold One of the Deuces

Sold one of the Deuces on Saturday. After having 6 and finding my brother (and me as I get older too) was losing interest in driving or working on them, we decided to thin the herd over the past year or two. We are down to one Deuce and a 5 ton. What a neat site this is and a benefit to tell...

NHC 250 Inj Pump fuel leak

Our M923A1 runs fine but seems to need priming the fuel pump after setting for a month. Not a big deal until today when I noticed fuel dripping from the back (cab side) of the pump when idling. If my research is correct it's coming out of the fuel damper on the bottom. Doesn't appear to be...

Hydraulic Head Plunger Bore Screw Leak

Our '67 Kaiser M35A2 with the Hercules runs good but is leaking fuel at the center screw between the injector lines on top of the hydraulic head. I see they call it a Plunger Bore Screw. I pulled the screw and did not see any seal. Is there supposed to be a seal here? I looked at several TM's...

Deuce to 5 Ton Size Comparison

A while back someone wanted a size comparison of a deuce to a 5 ton. Here are several recent pictures of an M35A2 Deuce and M923A1 5 ton.

    Vietnam era bumper markings

My brother and I recently painted our tan deuce (1967 Kaiser) and he wants to put his Army numbers on the bumpers. The truck was tan when we got it and we wanted to keep it tan, although it probably would not have been tan in Vietnam. He was in the Army in Vietnam in May of 1965 through June of...

    Rapco

Not sure where to post this, I'm pretty confident I will be corrected if in the wrong place. I cannot get a hold of Rapco. Placed an order two weeks ago and can't get any answers. Anyone know ? Thank You

    Copper fuel return line

I need to replace the copper fuel return line on a deuce. This is the line that runs from the inj pump flex hose to the fuel tank. It's on the driver side inside of frame crossing near transfer case to fuel tank. Can I use refrigerant soft copper tubing for this? I found a part number for the...

NHC250 diagrams for fuel flow, coolant, etc

I've googled and searched the forums, but haven't found anything. Does anyone have any good sources for fuel flow, coolant, etc diagrams for the Cummins NHC250? Thanks Randy

M923A1 with Hyd PTO - no winch

Got my M923A1 from GL and it has the PTO controls in the cab, pump components, and hyd tank. Probably had a winch at one time, would there have been anything else other than a winch installed ? I have no desire for a winch, so should I just leave the stuff or remove it? Thanks Randy
