    TB 750-761 manual?

I was looking through the -20 and in the "Cooling System Servicing" section is says "For Cleaning, refer to TB 750-761". I haven't been able to come across this manual. Anybody see it before?

    Creative concealment holsters for M1008/1028

Does anybody have any creative ways to mount a handgun concealed in a 1008/1028? I've seen some holsters that hang over the edge of the seat but I'm not sure I like it. Just curious if anybody has done anything interesting. Of course pictures are encouraged!

Pretty sure I need new batteries...

I got my M1028 today from GL and someone had left the blackout light switch on so the batteries were completely drained. They have a 2010 date on the so I was hoping they will still be good. I took them out and charged each of them individually and re-installed. I turned the key and the...

    86 M1028 on the way

86 M1028 is here! And so it begins...the shipper picked up my 1028 this morning up in MN. The video showed it running but they couldn't get it to start this morning. They tried to jump it with no luck either. I'm guessing the batteries are totally drained sitting up there in the cold and who...

    How much power steering fluid?

I plan on changing out all the fluids when my 1028 arrives next week. I've looked in the TM's and lube order but for the power steering fluid it just says as needed. Anybody know the capacity?

    I'm confused about 12v/24v?

I apologize for the dumb question, but I'm confused about something. Is the 12v glow plug bypass the same as converting to 12v? Everything I've read said to keep the 24v system, but then it seems like everybody also says the 12v bypass is the way to go too. Are these the same thing or am I...

How strict is GL on 10 day time limit?

I got the EUC on my 1028 back on Monday which would put my 10 business days ending next Friday. I talked to the local guy in MN where the truck is located today and he's not going to be there next week so my 10 days will expire before the truck can be picked up. I told him that it will put me...

    Transmission and Coolant flush?

The EUC cleared on my 1028 and I plan on changing all of the fluids right away. Is it worth paying for a place to do a coolant and transmission flush with the fancy equipment or am I just as good off doing it myself?

    Super tech oil at Walmart?

Anybody ever use this stuff? The guy who works there says its made by pennzoil and he uses it in his diesel all the time. $22 for 2 gal. Just curious

    What's a good price for a 205?

Found a 205 out of a 1985 full size Jimmy. What would a good price be? I'll eventually rebuild it and put in a 1028 (maybe with a 700r4).

    What's the perfect tire/trans/gear combination for M1028?

I've seen different threads that mention some of this, but I'd be interested in everyone's opinion. What is the "perfect" tire size/trans/gear for a M1028? I'm looking for all around performance. Able to go on the highway, light towing (small boat or camper), and some offroading but...

    Transmission worthless?

Well...I've had a pretty discouraging weekend. As part of my rebuild, I pulled the engine and transmission today. I've never done it before so I was pleased with myself for getting it done without breaking anything, but I was not happy with what I found. First, I'm pretty sure they just...

    M1009 rebuild paint questions

I apologize for the length of this, but I’m trying to get my thoughts together so I can plan accordingly. I’m new too all this so my questions may be pretty basic. I’ve read through tons of posts on this stuff and skimmed through the Painting Instruction TM so hopefully my questions won’t be...

How can I tell if it's a quality alternator?

My "new" M1009 came with two alternators sitting in the back of the truck (not on the engine). One is older, and clearly has the Delco Remy Logo. The other appears much newer but doesn't have any markings. Besides looking newer and not having the logo, it looks just like the Delco on the...

    Removing M1009 Windshield???

Well, I was trying to remove the windshield in my M1009 and cracked the darn thing. It's still not out! I removed the center bead on the outside seal and kicked lightly from the inside toward the edge of the glass and crack...spider web. I was surprised it cracked as easy as it did. We'll...

    Good deal for 700r4?

I was going to rebuild the stock transmission in my M1009 but came across this on craigslist. Ad says "700R4 transmission rebuildable cores. 1 is for 4WD, the other is for 2WD early 1990's $100.00each" Since I'm going to do a rebuild anyway, I'm wondering if it's worth picking up a 700r4 and...

    First M1009 arrived today!!!

After a few tries I finally won an M1009 at GL for a decent price (I think). She arrived today! I knew it was going to be in pretty rough shape from the pictures on GL. It was missing radiator, shroud, alternators, etc. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. It's definitely in rough...

    Original vs. aftermarket alternators?

Forgive me if this has been covered before, but I recall seeing an alternator for sale that implied it was an original military "issue" and was tougher than the aftermarket versions. I get the isolated ground issue, but if you don't consider cost, is there a reason to get an original alternator...

    New from NW Arkansas

Hi all. I have been lurking for a while researching things and finally won a M1009 yesterday. It's in pretty rough shape but I got it pretty cheap (I think) and it's a father/daughter project so we plan on tearing it down to the frame and rebuilding. I'm guessing it will be a huge undertaking...
