I just picked another m1009 this week. A local sheriff's office brought all their unused vehicles to the auction. It needs a new starter, and the passenger side rocker needs to be replaced, but its a pretty good Georgia truck. I paid a whopping $1100 for it. It still has the Motorola police...
I'm having an issue with the transmission in the m1009. When its cold, it'll shift and move. As soon as it warms up, it wont shift at all. When its warm, the engine just revs and nothing happens. If I manually shift it, nothing happens either. If i let it cool down, it will shift again but...
I installed all new glow plugs, bypassed the resistor, installed a manual push button by connecting to the blue wire and then grounding the button. When you push the button the wait light comes on but the relay doesn't click (new st85 relay). I turned the key to the on position and took a jumper...
Just picked up a m1009 with both alternators missing. It will turn over and start for now. Is it safe to run it without the alternators for couple of minutes so I can move it into the garage ?
If anyone has been thinking about putting a spray/roll on bedliner inside your CUCV, my advice to you would be to DO IT. I went back and forth on whether or not to to do a bedliner inside one of my m1009s. I currently own 3 m1009s and I am in the process of completing one of them. I just...
I havent driven my cucv for about 2 months. Today I jumped in it and reversed out of the driveway. It backed down the driveway just fine. I put it it drive and it wouldn't move on its own. Usually once you put it in drive it will roll forward under its own power. So I give it a little throttle...
I'm selling one of my m1009. Right now it has a brand new softopper soft top installed on it. Would you guys think it would sell for more money with the soft top on, or with the original hard top?
A couple of months back I bid on and won a 1985 m1009. I found it on govdeals and I paid a whopping total of $582. I brought it home, installed two new batteries, a starter, new glow plugs and controller, and she fired right up. I have since added new tires and have completely replaced the whole...
In addition to the harder starts over the last couple of days... I just made the 48 mile trip home from work. After starting up the truck (m1009)I let it idlefor about 20 minutes before I left work and it idled fine the whole time. I drove about 15 mileswith no issues and stopped at the gas...
I know ATF fluid is supposed be used in the np208. I noticed a small leak coming front the transfer case skid plate and it was gear lube. I guess the police department that I got the truck from put the wrong stuff in. Should I get it out ASAP and replace it with ATF? I've also go to figure out...
I just picked up another m1009. I had Carnac look up the info and it apparently spent a good portion of its life in Pennsylvania. I bought from a police department near Knoxville, TN that has had it since 2004. I noticed that it had been treated by Ziebarts when it was brand new. The floor pans...
I'm going to order a Softopper soft top on my m1009. Right now, the hard top leaks where it seals to the body. When you install the new seals for the body/top, do they get put on the actual top or the body?
I need to replace the steel fuel lines from the tank all the way to the front of my m1009. Is there any where that sells prebent lines? Would I be ok just running diesel rated rubber hoses instead of steel lines?
Installed new injectors and return lines. Bled the air out and started the truck. I got it to idle and I noticed fuel pouring out at the passenger rear injector (closest to firewall). It appeared that fuel was leaking at the return line. One of the return nozzles is capped off and the other one...
I am trying to bleed the air out of the fuel lines at the injectors. I have read on here to crack the lines and start until fuel comes out. Am I supposed to completely remove the lines from the injectors or just loosen them a little? I have replaced all fuel components including, IP, fuel pump...
Quick and possible silly question. When I replaced my injection pump and set the timing to the factory timing marks, I had to really pull hard and hold the ip in place while I tightened it down. Should there have been that much tension in the pump when rotating it to set the timing?
I recently replaced the IP, injectors, and did the spin on fuel filter mod. Over the last month I've had a heck of a time getting it to run/stay running.
First off, After I installed everything and bled the lines out, the truck fired right up then died after about 5 minutes. I looked over...
The solenoid on top of the starter on my m1009 cracked while reinstalling it. My question is is the solenoid a 24v or 12v solenoid? Where can I buy a replacement?
