Getting around to put the BO light on the fender of the M38a1. The fender has been replaced and there are no previous holes. Does anyone have a diagram, measurements, or a real good pic of the bracket placement?
It's time to put the unit designation on the M38a1. I was thinking of using my Dad's unit from Germany. He was in the Constabulary after the war. Unfortunately, it disbanded in '52, a year before the M38a1 was born.
My son is currently in the 173d airborne. As you know, they have a rich V.Nam...
Sorry to disappoint, but this is NOT a song about a transmission. It's about a high pitched jingle I hear when in motion from the transmission area. It's kinda like some chains clanging together. It's always made the sound, and it's not real loud and can barely be heard over the other sounds...
I'm installing a cab heater in my Deuce and I see that the power comes off the horn circuit. Should I be looking for an unused connector in the wiring harness? If so, where will I find it? (Don't say "In the horn circuit!":?)
Thanks for leading the blind by the hand!
For the last two years I've been heaving the local war heros into the bed of the Deuce to ride behind the color guard in the parade. Those guys are so cool and we have a lot of fun. The president of the local VFW asked me if others with MVs would like to join in.
The Parade is in Centerburg OH...
Under most conditions my M38a1 cranks right up. However after running for for a half hour or so, I need to crank it a long time to get it to turn over after shutting down.
The other day was hot and I ran around for about an hour. After shutting down and sitting for about 10 min, she started...
My A1 has no adaptor. I haven't been able to find that is specifically labelled for the m38a1. I've found some that come with 3 ft cables and a flange that takes four bolts. Is this the one? Are they universal?
Had a CJ-7 years ago and loved it. Been wanting a M38A1 for a while now. Just picked up this one. Still 24V. Looks like new fenders and maybe hood. Lots of other new stuff on it. Tub has some new steel welded in. It still needs a lot of work. I think I'll drive it this summer then maybe pull the...
I've got a couple of Deuce heaters and I want to test the motors before I install.
1. Where to I connect the leads?
2. Will a 12v battery spin the motor for testing purposes?
Thanks!
Just received a winch Pto and it is VERY difficult to shift between positions. In fact, I can't get it to move at all unless I back off the bolt retaining the spring and detent ball. I realize that under normal use these parts are bathed in gear oil and that will aid in shifting, but it wont...
I can't seem to get to the TMs on the old site. I hit resources/TMs and my browser says it's going to the old site, but it just reloads the current. What am I doing wrong?
Any hints for mounting this thing in the bracket? (the passenger side bracket behind the mirror) I started by just loosening the outer 2 bolts. Could'nt get it into to bracket until I took out the bolts in the door jam area. Now that its in the bracket, I'm having trouble lining up the jam...
I was surfing HMMWVs yesterday and found a good supply for 'off road use only'. I assume there are title or DOT issues with the HMMWVs. What's the story? Can they be titled for road use (Ohio)? What are these vehicles selling for?
I drove 946.6 miles (round trip) to get it today, but I got my hands on a M66 and legs! :-P Looks like I've got a set of legs for a M548 too, in case anyone's looking!!
OK, so JWALLER is making cab plates for ringmounts. I think the next step is for someone to make legs. I could get it done, except I don't have any to measure from. Anyone in Ohio have any I could borrow to get the measurements?
Any interest in legs?
If we keep working a it, we could have...
I'm adding some small parts to the deuce and want them to look fresh. Eventually, I'll do the whole deuce, but I don't want to re-do the small parts I'm adding when I paint the whole thing. Is there a rattlecan equivilent to 24087?
