    Need help with M1009 exhaust

Long time since I posted, haven't done much with my M1009 for a few years. I need a source or specs for the springs that go in the exhaust flange/header pipe bolts. The ones that are where the exhaust pipe attaches to the exhaust manifold. Mine got misplaced way back when I was trying to make...

Is there a way to change out the power steering system for one that has more "feel", like possibly fitting a unit from a 1996 or so 1500 pickup? Tried the search, not much luck. thanks.

    Parking lot kisses

Parking lot kisses, broken side mirror mount Drove my M1009 to Costco a couple days ago, and came out to find my drivers side mirror hanging on by one bolt. Bottom insert popped out no issue there (must not have been a very good factory job). The top right though, ugh. Tore out of the sheet...

2 1/2 years later and the 1009 is back on the road.

IP went out on the 1009, and during that time of trying to install a new one by myself and not being real successful I also severly injured my back at work. Found a local mechanic who I bartered with and drove the truck back from his shop tonight. Forgot how much fun it was to drive.

reinstalling injector pump, is there a trick or ?

I am currently typing this with my cold grease covered hands. I am attempting to reinstall a new IP on my 1009. Is there a trick or short cut to lining up the rotor end to the drive gear? Or am I doomed to a night of playing CUCV Twister with a trouble light and cursing the CUCV gods? Thanks!

I noticed several of the original paint and repaint M37s that folks own have the same marking on the doors. I am refering to the number 4 in a circle of different colors. Most I have seen have the 4 in a gold or golden yellow circle. Mine is a 4 in a light (Infantry) blue circle. Does anyone...

Cross threaded fuel line to injector? Problem with IP replacement

I am in the middle of replacing my IP that went Tango Uniform on me. Got to the #4 cylinder and was trying to remove the fuel pipe to the injector. Was REALLY tight, and gave it a tug. Looks like the injector itself is moving, not the pipe nut. Cab see where return lines are out of place...

M1009 has been shifting a little late since it got colder, trans fluid level has been fine. No real problems until yesterday. Drove to work fine, then drove to meet a guy to buy some WWII army surplus stuff, drove fine there. When leaving the truck would not shift up. Eventually it would shift...

    Bubbling in coolant overflow tank

I test drove a 1985 M1009 today. No fast idle, but ran well once warmed up. After completeing the ride I heard a loud bubbling coming from under the hood. Popped the hood and found that it was coming from the overflow tank. This was happening even with the engine off, so I don't think this is a...

    Freeze plugs and starter questions

A couple of weeks ago my 1009 blew a freeze plug. Fortunately I stopped in time before any damage done to the engine. Couple of days ago stopped at the NAPA store to get a couple of replacement freeze plugs. I got two of the metal cup types and threw in one of the expanding rubber types "just...

    Front wheel bearing stuck.....

Been trying to replace the front wheel bearings on my 1009, got everything out OK, but the outer bearing is stuck and the rotor is not coming off. Probably stuck because of the heat from the bearing going bad. I looked at a lot of bearing/hub pullers and none seem to be the right one for the...

    The word from the shop......

The word from the shop......it's the front axle not the rear The rear axle and diff are fine. They checked and adjusted the rear brakes and e-brake cable. Apparently the problem is in the front axle. Bearings on both sides are no good, and they said the brakes, rotors and calipers also need to...
